Langlois general merchandise store with post office established by A. H. Thrift and Frank Langlois, which they later sold to Ed Rackleff who lost it in the 1910 fire. (from Langlois 1881-1981)

In 1854 and succeeding years, William V. Langlois filed land claims and purchased property north of Floras Creek, creating an amalgam of acreage for a family farm. (ref 1) William had previously owned a mercantile in Port Orford but desired a home on Floras Creek for his wife and seven children. (ref 2) One of his neighbors was A. H. (Alexander Hamilton) Thrift who shared similar agribusiness goals and had amassed 840 acres on the same fertile plain shored by the Pacific Ocean. Through influence and investment, both families would play an integral role in the upstart of grocers that would feed and supply the clientele of northern Curry County and its peripheral areas. Election Information 2021 Langlois Water District

Dear Community Members,

The Langlois Water District will have three positions up for re-election this year. Position number(s) 3-Janet Hubel, 4-Warren Fitzgerald and 5-Judy Fitzgerald. The Langlois Water District desperately needs community support and volunteers to work in these elected positions while serving your community. Thank you to those who have stepped up already and have served their community.

Positions may require little more than monthly attendance while others will require addition time within the month to follow through with Board responsibilities and assignments. Board positions ie. Board Char, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary are determined and voted in by the new Board at the first meeting.

Who can run for office?

Any registered voter who resides within the boundaries of the established Langlois Water District.

Langlois Water District is basically defined as those residence between Bono Road and Allen Boice Ln.

How to File for an Elected Position on the Water Board

Print the Candidate Filing Form (SEL190) and Candidate Signature Sheet (SEL121), or pick up a packet at the library or post office, and follow the instructions.

Filing dates are 6 February through 18 March 2021. Applications must be received by the Curry County Election Office on or before 18 March 2021.

Fill out Candidate File form (SEL 190), you have two choices, you can either send in a $10.00 fee OR a petition (SEL 121) form with your submission. A Petition requires 15 signatures from registered voters residing within the water district. The $10.00 does not require any signatures. You must list which position you are running for…. Position #3, #4, or #5. It is very important that not all candidates run for the same position!

If you have any questions please call for Warren (Hal) Fitzgerald at the Langlois Water Office and they will relay a message to him. Ph 541-348-2142.

Thank you for your consideration!
