The Langlois Lions are hosting the third annual “rummage” sale with many items above rummage level, more like second-quality goods. August 14^th and 15^th Friday and Saturday 9 am- 4pm

at the club house 48136 Floras Lake Loop. The place is easy to find. From the north, cross over the bridge just south of Langlois and take the first right- signage banner visible. From the south , take the second turn to the left on to Floras Lake Lp. The building is just a few l blocks away and very visible once turned on to Loop road.

The sale features excellent household and glass wear items and a wide variety of other enticing items such as equipment for carding wool, for example . Most of these will be displayed our mini-store on site: the Lion’s Den. Vendors are presenting mostly their own goods for sale. There is one outside vendor with 5 tables of second hand stuff including nice tables and furniture.

There is room for more vendors and donations. We are unable to accept big items such as refrigerators etc. Otherwise, local pick-up is available.

In the past, this event has been very successful and had helped replenish our funding for such things as eye exams and glasses and hearing testing and aides for those who meet the low income requirement and live in Port Orford or Langlois area. School children are also tested each year with the club paying for the rental of the special cameras. Finally, maybe. in the spirit of summer cleaning, you have come across a pair of old glasses, cell phones or hearing aides. Please donate them to our club, There are collection boxes at the Langlois Post Office and Library and the Port Orford Library. The Langlois Lions Club is hosting a Grand Trifecta, August 24th and 25th, Saturday and Sunday from 9 to 4 pm, at the club house 48136 Floras Lake Loop, just south of Langlois on the right, off Hwy 101.

The Trifecta promises to be of interest whether or not one is a garage sale fanatic.

The three- for- one event:

1) Benefit Indoor sale: Mostly high quality items including furniture, household items, exercise bike and much more.

We also encourage people who would want to do a "trunk or tail gate sale" and the like to sign up for a space in our yard free of charge. Current vendors: Creations by the Sea (resin art), Surfin' Goats Jam, Ali's Wicky Wacky Creations (tie dye hand-made goods), Sonja's Treats (baked goods) and other garage sale vendors. We are also still interested in additional indoor vendors.

2) Mini Art exhibit: Rock bottom prices featuring paintings by Jean Stephenson, Georganne White, Michael Ousley and hand made fiber items by Yvonne Ousley.

3)Mini-Open House: tour of renovations of the bath rooms and kitchen/ info re our Lions Club/ cookies/ coffee/tea.

The Langlois Lions Club is again hosting an event: " Get Rockin in Langlois", a small town fair for rock aficionados and beach lovers on Saturday, April 27th 9am- 5 pm. at the Lions Club, 48136 Floras Lake Loop. Last year's was a huge success and had been the first of its kind on this part of the southern Oregon. It seemed as if every local rock hound showed up, not to mention others from the northern Oregon coast and even some from out-of-state.

Admission is free with donations appreciated and/or to buy raffle tickets. The raffle features donations from local businesses and artisans the on-site vendors with wonderful contributions and splendid donations from members of the Art by the Sea Gallery in Bandon.

The main features: Speakers: Geoff Ogle and Matt Vegar: "Tutorial on Rock Identification" 9 am -10 am. Kent Gibson, renown fossil expert- national Katherine Palmer Award for avocational paleontology: " My Fossil Journey." 10:30 am. -11: 30 am. Cody Easom: " How to Make the Best of Rock Tumbling", 1:30 am -2:30pm. A new, most welcome addition: Bob Vernal, master large rock stacker: Demonstration of rock stacking with smaller rocks and a talk on his Irish experience with a Land Art Festival: 3 pm- 4 pm. Bob will also have a built a stone arch outside the club for all to view during event hours. The speakers are partially underwritten by a grant received from the Curry County Cultural Coalition and the Oregon Cultural Trust.

The fossil/rock experts will be on hand all day long. The fourth expert, K Thomas Myers, author of the pocket guide "Agates of the Oregon Coast," will bring a display to see and feel samples up close and personal. You are invited to bring in your mystery rocks and fossils with a limit of 3. More features: great selection of vendors with beach-themed products such as art, jewelry, and plants. We are very pleased that the " Creative Collective of Port Orford", an art co-op, is on board with a variety of artistic expressions. Other Demonstrations: Heidi Foss: zen rock stacking with patron involvement. Calvin Davis: Cabochon cutting, Special kids' corner-instructor present: Fish printing: 9am-1 pm. Rock painting 1 pm-5pm. Free rocks available. Adults also welcome if space available.

A special lunch unique to our event: a red lentil soup-Mercimek Çorbası - a Turkish favorite, with pita & hummus, & small salad for suggested donation of $6.00. Rave reviews last year.

The event also provides the opportunity for people to meet and greet other like-minded people, maybe, even a bit of show and tell.
