Port Orford band concert celebrates instrument donation

Very cool .. from The World

PORT ORFORD — A Tuesday concert by the Port Orford-Langlois School District's student bands will showcase the revitalization of the district's music programs thanks to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation.

In the fall of 2015, VH1 Save The Music provided $35,000 worth of band instruments to District 2CJ, which encompasses the communities of Port Orford and Langlois, Oregon.

According to an announcement from the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, "Statewide budget cuts in 2013 and a state-mandated narrowing of curriculum threatened the existence of the district’s music education programs. Through the combined efforts and dedication of community members, district leaders and VH1 Save The Music, students have been able to expand their musical knowledge year after year."
