Lions Club Holiday Fair Nov 21-22 Come One Come All!

An event to make your holiday season even brighter. The Friends of the Langlois Library and the Langlois Club have collaborated for over 30 years to bring you a stellar event. The vendors are in place selling hand-made wares from afghans to jewelry to quilts and, to perhaps, a zebra potholder. The Friends will be selling their wide assortment of delicious cookies while the Lions will be serving beverages and an amazing selection of desserts.

A new addition to the event: The Lion’s Den will open in the “red room” featuring an unbelievable assortment of good second-hand items and a “freebie” table as well. Of note, all the monies o the non profit sponsors will be spent for library needs and the Lion’s charitable causes and renovation expenses. With this in mind, both organizations would really love and really need your donations to keep our coffers going. The Friends are requesting a cookies and the Lions: any other desserts, quick breads etc. Thanks so much in advance and hope to see you all there. This event will not disappoint.

3rd Anual Get Rocking Rock Festival at the Lions club April 19th

The Langlois Lions Club is again hosting an event: "Get Rockin in Langlois", a small town fair for rock aficionados and beach lovers on Saturday, April 19th- 9 am-5 pm. at the Lions Club, 48136 Floras Lake Loop. This is our third , now annual event, and if the previous two give us any indication, the fair is going to be wonderful again.

Admission is free with donations appreciated and/or to buy raffle tickets. This year, two different raffle baskets with similar contents will be featured. These raffles are made possible by donations from local businesses and artisans, and the on-site vendors. Alll children get a selection of a polished agate to take home and enjoy.

The main features: Speakers: Geoff Ogle and Matt Vegar: "Tutorial on Rock Identification" 9 am -10 am. Kent Gibson, renown fossil expert- national Katherine Palmer Award for avocational paleontology: " My Fossil Journey." 10:30 am. -11: 30 am. Cody Easom: " How to Make the Best of Rock Tumbling", 1:30 am -2:30pm.

The fossil/rock experts will be on hand all day long. The fourth expert, K Thomas Myers, author of the pocket guide "Agates of the Oregon Coast," will bring a display of samples for visitors to view and touch. . You are invited to bring in your mystery rocks and fossils ( limit of 3 )and see if the experts can be stumped or not. More features: great selection of vendors with beach-themed products such as art, jewelry, and plants. Other Demonstrations Bob Vernal: zen rock stacking which opportunity to practice outside to make small arches, Heidi Foss, also expert rock stacking and fish printing for children ( and adults if room available) , and Calvin Davis: Cabochon cutting There is also . ID rock game and an opportunity to buy durable stickers featuring the Oregon Coast and more. .


A special lunch unique to our event: a red lentil soup-Mercimek Çorbasi -a Turkish favorite, with pita & hummus, & small salad for suggested donation of $6.00. Rave reviews past two years.

The event also provides the opportunity for people to meet and greet other like-minded people, maybe, even a bit of show and tell. The Lions club would really appreciate donations to our dessert table for an excellent cause; updating our kitchen so that people in the community may rent the facility for producing their home made products.  Any dessert such as pies, cakes, brownies, quick breads would be great.  May bring to the Lions club during the fair.  If you would prefer to make cookies, please donate to the Friends of the Langlois Public Library.  Thanks in advance.

Langlois Lions Yardsale at the Dragonfly Farm

Purpose: Fund raiser to show community support for a project to bring our kitchen up to Dept. of Agriculture  standards.  Community members will then be able to rent the kitchen to make their products to sell. Hence, this accessibility  will help promote small businesses.

We would appreciate donations of gently-used items ( no clothes or large appliances, though small furniture pieces accepted). There will be a donation can available also.  Please call D. McDermott to arrange a pick up or drop off.  541  348-2507,  541-251-1530

Rockin in Langlois - a small town fair for rock aficionados and beach lovers

The Langlois Lions Club is hosting an event: " Rockin in Langlois", a small town fair for rock aficionados and beach lovers on Saturday, April 15th 9am-4pm at the Lions Club, 48136 Floras Lake Loop.

This type of event is the first of its kind on this part of the southern Oregon coast. Admission is free with donations appreciated and/or please consider buying raffle tickets. A free rock given to each kid.

The main features: 9 am tutorial on rock identification by Geoff Ogle and Matt Vegar, also serving as on-site rock experts. The third expert, K Thomas Myers, author of the pocket guide "Agates of the Oregon Coast," will bring a display to see and feel these samples up close and personal. Rocks limited to 3 a person.

Other highlights include a selection of great vendors with beach-themed products such as photography, sun-catchers, lapidary stone, jewelry, plants, hand-made hats, and more.

Draws of note: Cody Easom; salesman for Extreme Tumblers, geological aspects of our shore rocks exhibit by Dale Lee, and a raffle featuring businesses of Langlois with help from our friends, Port Orford and Bandon.

Demonstrations: zen rock stacking, wire rock wrapping with rocks provided and creations of sun-catcher.s For this project, please bring in your favorite nickel-sized agate. However, some agates will be available if needed. Please note: the vendors for the demos will charge a small fee if object taken home
