Wed. Jan. 19 – Collage Group  1-3:00  $6  (cash please)  Please send an email request to join this session  to Susan Lehman at Studioblue@mycomspan.com.  There is no specific instruction, just bring your own project, materials and ideas to share.  The Collage Group will meet at the Langlois Lions Club, located at 48135 Floras Lake Loop Road in Langlois.  Each person will have a table of their own.  Social distancing and masks required.  Wipes and hand sanitizer will be available.  Students may want to bring bottled water.  Maximum of 10 students.Wed. Langlois Public Library QUILT RAFFLE-

Our quilt raffle will support completion of our demonstration pollinator garden ( seeds, plants, etc) The drawing will be either at the last Pollinator Garden by Darcy Grahek of Stillwater Natives Nursery. This class will be the third that Darcy has done for the library and our plot will be ready.  If weather precludes the drawing in Feb., will be scheduled for the summer  solstice.  Please drop by our library ,opening again on Dec 28th.

Good news from the Langlois Lions Club: Sandie's World

Famous Chicken Pot Pies are back for your winter's enjoyment. This will be a long over due fundraiser event as the annual Holiday Craft Fair has again been canceled due to the covid 19 logistics and restrictions. Sandie McDonald is well known for offering these pot pies at past craft fairs drawing in people from way out of town. Proceeds from this event will go to our charitable programs.

Please note: chicken pot pies are available for pre order only.

Price: Chicken pot pies: $6 per serving'

The cut-off date for orders is November 20th. Pick up will be at Langlois Lions Club at 48136 Floras Lake Loop, November 20th from 4 pm. to 7 pm. Customers may have their choice of ready to eat or frozen for later use. Please consider mailing in a pre payment if possible to S. McDonald 47993 Floras Lake Lp, Langlois : 97450. Checks should be written to the Langlois Lions Club. Otherwise cash or local checks only at pick up time.

In 1854 and succeeding years, William V. Langlois filed land claims and purchased property north of Floras Creek, creating an amalgam of acreage for a family farm. (ref 1) William had previously owned a mercantile in Port Orford but desired a home on Floras Creek for his wife and seven children. (ref 2) One of his neighbors was A. H. (Alexander Hamilton) Thrift who shared similar agribusiness goals and had amassed 840 acres on the same fertile plain shored by the Pacific Ocean. Through influence and investment, both families would play an integral role in the upstart of grocers that would feed and supply the clientele of northern Curry County and its peripheral areas.
