The Langlois Library Board update:

We would like to keep the community informed of the upcoming changes in keeping with revitalizing the library. The most important item: please note that the regular board meeting date has been changed permanently to the 2rd Wednesday of each month at 6: 30 pm. The next meeting: January 8th.. Again we encourage the public to attend to hear how the library is progressing. Your input is invaluable. We alsos have appointed a new board member after several months of vacancy for position # 5- Deanna McDermott.

Library hours have increased to six days a week, Mon through Sat 11 am-5 pm. Two new enthusiastic employees have been hired: Lo Saechao & Annie Wilson. Denise Willms, library consultant, remains on site on Fridays and Saturdays and is available for phone consults otherwise.

The new web site is up and running and is worth a visit at https://langloispubliclibrary.org/. Besides access to Coastline Libraries Catalog, one can find profiles of the new board members, events and more. If you have any concerns, please use the web site for board member contact information.

We can be found on Facebook as well.

The library is again accepting donations of books for the Friends of the Langlois Library book sale on Saturday, Feb 29 9am- 4p at the Langlois Lions Club. The library is unable to accept stained, mildewed or otherwise damaged books. In addition, because the following do not sell and is costly to get rid of, the library will no longer accept Reader’s Digest magazines, any condensed books or encyclopedia sets.

The Just Jensens band is scheduled at the library from 3 pm to 4:30 on January 26th. This event, sponsored by the Friends of the Langlois Libary, is certain to be extremely enjoyable as the family continues with the founding father Charlie Jensen’s great musical legacy.

Finally, the board and staff of the library are looking forward to continuing to enhance services to our patrons and we will keep the community informed as we progress.

Lo Saechoa

Annie Wilson

LANGLOIS LIBRARY RE-OPENS

We are open again! Thanks to gifts of $1000 each from two angels and a grant of $3000 from the Friends of LPL, the Langlois Public Library is pleased to announce our new hours. Beginning Friday, September 27, you may visit the library on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 AM to 6 PM. We will add more open days later in the year.

Denise Willms, Director of the Port Orford Library, has signed a contract to manage the Langlois Public Library following the resignation of former Library Director Karen Schaefer. The Library Board is so grateful for Denise’s skills, energy and enthusiasm which she will apply to creating the financial and organizational stability we need before searching for a permanent Director.

The BoaAnchorrd also wants to acknowledge the overwhelming support of our library community at the special meeting September 18. Special guests included the State Librarian of Oregon Jennifer Patterson, former
Langlois Library Director Nancy Angelesco and representatives of the Bandon, Port Orford, and Gold Beach libraries.

We urge the community to show their support as well by volunteering to fill the vacancy on the Library Board or by helping out at the Library. The Friends of LPL also need volunteers to sit on the Friends’ Board or to assist at fund-raising events.

Kandi J. Wyatt author reading Myth Coast Adventures trilogy

Date:

Saturday, April 27, 2019 - 1:00pm

Enjoy readings from the Myth Coast Adventures trilogy, and enter to win autographed copies of the Amazon #1 bestseller for the month of March.

Author bio from her FB page:

Even as a young girl, Kandi J Wyatt, had a knack for words. She loved to read them, even if it was on a shampoo bottle! By high school Kandi had learned to put words together on paper to create stories for those she loved.

Nowadays, she writes for her kids, whether that's her own five or the hundreds of students she's been lucky to teach. When Kandi's not spinning words to create stories, she's using them to teach students about Spanish, life, and leadership.
