Lloyd Charles Kreutzer Memorial Friday

Lloyd Charles Kreutzer July 6, 1927 - March 7, 2020

A celebration of the life of Langlois resident Lloyd Charles Kreutzer, will be held 1 p.m., Friday, March, 20, 2020 at the Langlois Community Church with a potluck to follow at the former Langlois Cheese Factory.

Lloyd was born July 6, 1927 in Bandon, along with his twin brother, Lowell, the son of Louis and Olive Farrier Kreutzer. He died March 7, 2020 in Bandon at the age of 92 years, 8 months and one day.

Lloyd grew up on his family ranch and would deliver milk before school then go to school and then come back to work on the ranch. His driving began early and his first accident was at age 5 when he was driving the pickup for his dad and hit an apple tree in the orchard. Beyond this he would drive truck for 80 years.

On August 6, 1950, Lloyd married Geraldine Holycross.

After graduating from Langlois High School, Lloyd drove truck for various companies and then in 1963, he and Geraldine bought the ranch from his parents and he raised cattle and sheep and milked cows. He always had a love of reading and in the past few years especially enjoyed reading history.

His wife of nearly 65 years, Geraldine, preceded him in death on February 5, 2016.

He is survived by his daughters, Vicki and Richard Elias and Kristy Sandez; twin brother Lowell Kreutzer; daughter-in-law, Laurie Kreutzer; grandchildren, Kelly, Amanda, Tobey, Keegan and Jenny,  Carrie, Tracye and Kevin, Scott and Bomen; great-grandchildren, Bryson, Jameaka, Jayme, Dannika, Elizabeth, Gabe, Lexi, Kyle, Bailey and Scarlett and a great-great-grandson, Emmitt.

In addition to Geraldine he was preceded in death by his parents; son, Tom; daughter, Bonnie; granddaughters, Shayna and Angelena; brother, Kenneth; and sisters, Anne and Ruth.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Bandon Historical Society in Lloyd’s memory.

Friends may offer condolences online at westrumfuneralservice.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Amling-Schroeder Funeral Service, Bandon. Read more about Lloyd Charles Kreutzer Memorial Friday

Just Jensens A Woodwind Quartet at the Libarary

Just Jensens A Woodwind Quartet

Come enjoy a concert by Just Jensens at 3:00 p.m. on January 26, who will perform an assortment of contemporary and classical music in arrangements customized for this unique group. Though the group hails from Coos Bay/North Bend area, their roots are in the Langlois area.

Three sisters grew up in Denmark, Oregon, and their sister-in-law (Judy Marsh Jensen) in Port Orford. The sisters, Judy Jensen Snyder, Peggy Jensen Christensen, and Bonnie Jensen Cox, were children of Charlie Jensen, originator of the Langlois and Port Orford band programs and instrumental music teacher for the 2CJ District for 12 years. Jensen and his wife, Wilma, established a music store in Port Orford in the 1960s that they later moved to the Pony Village Mall.

The four Jensen women formed their ensemble in 2006 and have performed in various venues over the years. All are members of the Bay Area Concert Band.

The Friends of the Langlois Library are pleased to offer this opportunity for the community to enjoy these musicians carrying on the legacy of Charlie Jensen.

The event is free, but donations will be appreciated.

Langlois LIbrary District Board Meetings. & other news

The Langlois Library Board update:

We would like to keep the community informed of the upcoming changes in keeping with revitalizing the library. The most important item: please note that the regular board meeting date has been changed permanently to the 2rd Wednesday of each month at 6: 30 pm. The next meeting: January 8th.. Again we encourage the public to attend to hear how the library is progressing. Your input is invaluable. We alsos have appointed a new board member after several months of vacancy for position # 5- Deanna McDermott.

Library hours have increased to six days a week, Mon through Sat 11 am-5 pm. Two new enthusiastic employees have been hired: Lo Saechao & Annie Wilson. Denise Willms, library consultant, remains on site on Fridays and Saturdays and is available for phone consults otherwise.

The new web site is up and running and is worth a visit at https://langloispubliclibrary.org/. Besides access to Coastline Libraries Catalog, one can find profiles of the new board members, events and more. If you have any concerns, please use the web site for board member contact information.

We can be found on Facebook as well.

The library is again accepting donations of books for the Friends of the Langlois Library book sale on Saturday, Feb 29 9am- 4p at the Langlois Lions Club. The library is unable to accept stained, mildewed or otherwise damaged books. In addition, because the following do not sell and is costly to get rid of, the library will no longer accept Reader’s Digest magazines, any condensed books or encyclopedia sets.

The Just Jensens band is scheduled at the library from 3 pm to 4:30 on January 26th. This event, sponsored by the Friends of the Langlois Libary, is certain to be extremely enjoyable as the family continues with the founding father Charlie Jensen’s great musical legacy.

Finally, the board and staff of the library are looking forward to continuing to enhance services to our patrons and we will keep the community informed as we progress.

Lo Saechoa
