How to Install a Mini-Pollinatro Garden

Mark your calendars for August 12!! Langlois Public Library is pleased to announce a collaboration with Darcy Grahek, Stillwater Natives Nursery, Bandon on HOW TO INSTALL A MINI-POLLINATOR GARDEN,

A three session workshop, August 12, August 26, and September 23 from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. Location: Langlois Public Library Patio.

This workshop will walk participants through every step to establish a drought tolerant garden that includes native flowering plants. Cardboard and mulch as an alternative to tilling is discussed in depth. In Session 1, participants choose a site at home and create a plan addressing sun, soil, and water. The Pollinator Garden site design is 80-100 square feet in any shape. Workshop participants will gain practical experience in a hands-on outdoor activity at the end of class. Workshop members will draft a diagram or map to use at home during the first session. Session II, August 26, 5:30 – 7:00. This session presents the garden plants that flower with an emphasis on native plants. The Langlois Library’s garden pollinator map will serve as a model. Participants will be supported in choosing site appropriate plant materials. Session III, September 23, 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. The final session brings together all elements for making a small pollinator- supporting garden. Timing the planting to the right season and choosing appropriate plants for the prepared site AND PLANTING the Langlois Library pollinator garden are all included in the final session. Participants will be included in a special celebration at that time! The sessions are free, but any donations are gratefully accepted. Friends of the Langlois LIbrary Book Sale

Big Book Sale on the Lawn at Langlois Library, Saturday July 17th


Mark your calendars for the July 17th OUTDOOR book sale at the library in Langlois. Sponsored by Friends of the library and supported by volunteers, the book sale opens at 10 am and goes to 4 pm

Bring your own shopping bags or boxes (or we can provide them) to take home the many bargain treasures you’ll discover. Prices are still just:
paperbacks for 50 cents each or 12 for $5
 hardbacks for $1 each or 6 for $5 
 children’s books 25 cents and every child can have one FREE book.
As usual there will be a table of wonderful ‘better books’ individually priced, in addition to audio/visual materials, puzzles, and more.

So come to the Langlois library on July 17 from 10 am to 4 pm. Signs on Highway 101 will direct you to the sale on the huge lawn behind the library, which is located on the south end of Langlois. For more information, call Langlois Public Library at 541-348-2066.

Langlois Lions Plant Sale

The Langlois Lions is hosting the annual Mary Hildebrand Memorial Plant Sale Saturday, May 15th through Sunday May 23rd from 9 am- 4pm. This open air market is located at 94180 Kerber Lane

. Masks are required. Note: Sale is not at the Lions Club. There will be an outstanding variety of garden, yard and house plants from A – Z to include 13 different kinds of tomatoes and other veggies starts.

 

Special attractions include: Woof’s pottery and garden expert, Jennifer Ewing on May 15th only,

Business support includes: Valley Flora, Wild Wood Gypsy Farm Stand & Gift Shop, Dragonfly Farm & Nursery, B & B Farm supply, Raincoast Arts, Old Souls Studios of Langlois, Currydale Farms,

Stillwater Nursery, 101 Plants & Garden Center & Nicki’s Knick Knacks of Port Orford.

 

There will a great opportunity to connect with other green thumbs and to support our charitable causes.

We are accepting donations May 14th afternoon and the morning of May 15th.
